Since 2021 trainer "Whit" Beckman represents the culmination of years of experience at the highest levels of thoroughbred racing. Growing up in Louisville, Whit began his career at the iconic Churchill Downs, where he developed his deep understanding of the sport.
His journey took him to work as an assistant to Hall of Fame trainers Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown, gaining invaluable experience that shaped his training philosophy. He also expanded his expertise internationally with experience in Saudi Arabia before establishing his own stable.
His success speaks for itself: in 2023, Beckman celebrated his first stakes winner with Harlan Estate, followed by a breakthrough Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes winner, Honor Marie. Honor Marie's victory not only marked his first graded stakes win but also established him as a promising 2024 Kentucky Derby prospect. In 2026, Beckman nearly pulled off a monumental 70-1 upset in the Kentucky Derby with a maiden named Ocelli who finished third. beaten just a length.
